Gingivitis is a common dental problem struggled by a lot of people. Bleeding or swollen gums is a serious condition and should not be allowed to persist. The most common cause of swollen gums is infection of the gingiva, caused by plaque, which is a thin covering of food and bacteria on the tooth surface. While bleeding or swollen gums is an early indicator of gingivitis, or swollen gums, they may sometimes occur from vigorous brushing.
Plaque formed bacteria causes the gingivitis and if left untreated it can progress to further infection and bacteria will spread beyond the gum line affecting the tissues and bones that supports the teeth, and can eventually result to tooth loss.
The signs of gingivitis, swollen and bleeding gums are something that cannot be neglected. Plaque must be removed, accumulated and increased plaque will cause and result to more severe gum disease. Brushing and flossing are the effective way in removing plaque and bacteria.
With superior oral hygiene swollen and bleeding gums, gingivitis and gum diseases can be completed avoided.

Parents do not usually pay attention to their child’s oral health unless they notice some blood during brushing and they came to notice that their child is having a swollen gum. A swollen gum in children is a serious condition that should not be ignored by every parent. Swollen gums are an indication that there is a serious trouble ahead. Thus, taking your child to the dentist periodically is necessary to keep their oral health on the right shape and to keep their baby teeth from losing prematurely. Untreated swollen gums in your children will cause serious oral problems and pain and discomfort can become worse.
To prevent swollen gums, cavities and losing baby teeth in your children prematurely, guide them with proper oral care by teaching them the proper brushing and flossing techniques. Right nutrition should be also introduced to your children, for poor nutrition can contribute to gum disease.
